| Dennis Anderson, a native of Stockton, California, enrolled at Fresno Pacific in the fall of 1969. He specialized in the shot put and in 1972 and 1973 was the NAIA District Three Champion. He became FPC’s first NAIA national champion when, on January 22, 1972, he won the NAIA National Indoor shot put title in Kansas City, Missouri, with a mark of 56’ 7”. Anderson also earned NAIA All-America honors with third and fourth place finishes at the 1971 and 1972 NAIA National Outdoor Championships. A hand injury, sustained in the qualifying round of the 1973 national outdoor championship, prevented him from earning additional national honors. He owns the 10 best marks in FPC history, including his career-best of 57’ 10 ½”, recorded on March 31, 1973. He majored in English and completed a bachelor’s degree in June, 1973. He married Lynnette Boldt in 1973 and together they are the parents of three children. He has served on the Fresno Pacific College Board of Trustees and the Church and community in a variety of roles. He is successful business owner and entrepreneur. |
