Inducted

April 6, 2001

In recognition of

Excellence in the sport of

Track and field

And exemplary contribution to the

Community through education

Roger Trujillo grew up in Orange Cove, California, and enrolled at Fresno Pacific College in the fall of 1970. His list of accomplishments in the triple jump is extensive. It includes four national titles in his native Mexico (1971-74), three NAIA District Three championships (1972-74) and All-America honors with a third place finish in the 1972 NAIA National Outdoor Championship in Billings, Montana. He also owns four U.S. National Master’s titles (1984, ‘88, ‘96, ‘97) as well as the 1985 World Master’s title. Roger majored in physical education and, following his graduation in 1974, embarked on a career as an educator. He has received numerous awards for outstanding achievement as both a teacher and administrator. In 1998 he was honored by Tulare County as both the educator of the year and administrator of the year, while his school earned California Distinguished School status. As testimony to his outstanding athleticism, his long jump mark of twenty-four feet, six inches and triple jump best of fifty-one feet, one-half inch, still stand as FPU records twenty-seven years after he completed his intercollegiate career.
