Personal - Joe'l was born in Columbia, South Carolina, on December 12, 1981... his mother, Belinda Sligh, is an FPU graduate... has a younger brother Joshua.
Prior to FPU - Joe'l prepped at Kingsburg High School.
As a freshman (2000-01) - Joe'l made an immediate impact on the Sunbirds upon his arrival... appeared in all 30 games, including 28 starts... was the second-leading scorer on the team with a 10.7 points per game average... led the team with 4.8 rebound per game and also with a 54.5 field goal percentage.
As a sophomore (2001-02) - Joe'l improved upon his freshman numbers as he led the team with 11.9 points and 7.8 rebounds per game... started 21 games and appeared in each of the team's 29 games... recorded 19 games with double-figure points, 12 with double-figure rebounds and 10 double-doubles... had a 23 point, 10 rebound, effort in FPU's 68-62 win over Dominican... was honored as the team's outstanding offensive player.
As a junior (2002-03) - Joe'l appeared in each of the team's 32 games, including 29 starts... averaged 9.7 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.2 blocks in 25 minutes of action per game... led the team with 71 blocks.
As a senior (2003-04) - Joe'l appeared in 28 games for the Sunbirds... averaged 12.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.2 blocked shot per game.
