GSAC Game #2 -
Concordia 86, Sunbirds 82 (Overtime)

Box Score

Fresno - The 12th-ranked Concordia University Eagles survived a spirited effort by the host Sunbirds, escaping the Special Events Center with an 86-82 overtime Golden State Athletic Conference win.

Jordan Beshore's 3'pointer with less than six seconds to play tied the score at 73-73, to force overtime.

Rocky Soliday's 3-pointer with 25 seconds to play in the extra period, broke an 82-82 tie gave the Eagles the margin they needed.

Beshore's 3-point attempt with 13 seconds to play was blocked by Josh Kramer, but FPU retained possession as the ball went out of bounds.

Moustafa El Zanaty tried an off-balance 3-pointer with four seconds to play that was off the mark. Matt Nunez grabbed the rebound, was fouled , and after an Eagles time-out, made one of two free throws to ice the game.

"This one hurts," said FPU head coach Clark Sheehy. "Anytime you go into overtime and lose it hurts. We played hard and matured as a team tonight. We had some great possessions down the stretch and had a chance to win. I have nothing but respect for (Concordia head coach) Ken Ammann. They have a very good team.

Beshore led FPU, now 4-3 overall and 0-2 in GSAC play, with 16 points, including 9-10 from the charity stripe. Josh Urbiztondo scored 15 points, El Zanaty finished with 14, as did Rudy Lopez. Lesego Molebatsi added 10 points and eight rebounds before fouling out late in regulation.

Soliday and Levi Luster led the Eagles (4-3, 1-1) with 16 points each.

The Sunbirds take a break form GSAC play on Friday when they host Life Pacific of San Dimas Please note the special tip-off time of 5:00 p.m.
