Box score
Irvine - Levi Luster's game-high 18 points led the host Concordia University Eagles to a 76-54 Golden State Athletic Conference win over the Sunbirds tonight in Irvine.
The Eagles had a narrow five-point lead (36-31) after 20 minutes of play, but Josh Urbiztondo's 3-pointer to open the second half cut the gap to two points.
The Eagles responded with a mini 6-0 run and push their lead to eight points.
FPU closed it to five (43-38) with just under 14 minutes to play, but the Eagles closed it by out-scoring their guests 33-16 the rest of the way.
Luster, who was 8-9 from the field, had help from Victor Nance (14 points) and Kyle Huggett (10 points).
Senior Rudy Lopez led FPU with 15 points and six rebounds. Urbiztondo, the only other Sunbirds to reach double figures, finished with 11 points.
"We tried to play hard," said FPU head coach Clark Sheehy. "But we did not execute. We turned it over 24 times. We have to get better- quickly."
