Haynes, Miller sign with FPU
When FPU men's basketball coach Clark Sheehy was hired in May he indicated that a high priority was to build relationships is the community and recruit local student athletes.
It appears he is well on his way.
Clark announced today that local products Chris Haynes and Garrett Miller have both signed national letters of intent to attend FPU this fall.
Haynes, a 6-1 guard, is a 2001 Roosevelt High School graduate. He played one season at Sacramento City College before redshirting at Columbia Community College in Sonora last season.
"We are extremely excited to have Chris join our program," said Sheehy. "He is a local product and has the potential to be a great player at FPU."
Miller is a 2005 graduate of Clovis West High School. Miller, a 6-3 guard, helped the Golden Eagles to a 27-6 overall record, including 9-1 co-Tri-River Athletic Conference championship.
"Garrett comes to us from a great local program," said Sheehy. "We know he has learned the fundamentals of the game. We can't wait to have him. He is a great addition to our program."
FPU begins the 2005-06 season November 4 at the Westminster University Classic in Salt Lake City.
