Tuesday, January 17, 2006 - GSAC Game #7
Final -
#15 The Master's College 65, FPU 65

Box score

Santa Clarita - The Fresno Pacific University Sunbirds are still looking for their first Golden State Athletic Conference win of the season, but head coach Jim Hall is encouraged.

After his Sunbirds lost their ninth consecutive game -- including an 0-7 mark in GSAC play --65-59 tonight in Santa Clarita to 15th-ranked The Master's College, Hall was upbeat.

"We finally followed our defensive plan for a full 40 minutes," said Hall. "And that gave us an opportunity to win the game. It was a two possession game with less than two minutes to play. We just didn't quite get it done."

The game was tied 30-30 after 20 minutes.

FPU opened the second half with a 16-8 run to build an 8-point 46-38 lead.

The Mustangs tied it at 56-56 with four minutes to play, then out-scored their guests 9-3 the rest of the way.

Kinsley Mittel led the Mustangs (12-4, 4-3) with 16 points.

Denise Fast led FPU (4-12, 0-7) with 15 points and seven rebounds. Melissa Montoya added 14 points and Alissa Ingallina chipped in with 10 points.

FPU continues their 3-game gauntlet run through ranked GSAC opponents on Thursday when they host #9 Azusa Pacific.

Tip-off time in the Special Events Center is 5:30 p.m.
