Trio earn NAIA National honor
Senior basketball players Molly McAmis and Danielle Prusinskas have done it again, but this time they have some company.
McAmis and Prusinskas have been named to the NAIA All America Scholar Athlete team for the second consecutive year. They are joined by teammate Amanda Kamps.
McAmis, from Santa Maria, California, is a physical therapy major. She appeared in 29 games and averaged 3.0 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. McAmis also earned NAIA All America Scholar Athlete honors as a member of FPU's outdoor track team last year.
Prusinskas, an international business major from Salida, California, appeared in 28 games for the Sunbirds. She contributed 2.0 points per game.
Kamps, a native of Ripon, California, missed most of the 2004-05 season with a knee injury. She returned this season, appearing in 29 games and contributing 2.0 points and 1.1 rebounds per game. She is the third member of her family to earn this prestigious award. She follows older sisters Teresa (2001, 02) and Sheila (2004).
The NAIA All-America Scholar Athlete award is limited to student athletes who have reached junior year academic standing (or higher), have made a significant athletic contribution to their team and earned a grade-point average of 3.50 or higher (on a 4.00 scale).
