Prior to FPU - Vanessa was a three-time Most Valuable Performer in both cross country and track at Central High School... placed second in the Valley championship with a 2:18 in the 800 meters.
Personal - Vanessa was born in Merced... her parents are Linda and Jim MacKenzie of Fresno... has one younger brother... also enjoys soccer... home church is Northpoint... is undecided on a major.
As a freshman (2004) - After missing the first two races of the season with injuries, Vanessa locked down the team's No. 2 runner slot... posted a season-best 19:31 at Woodward Park in the NAIA region 2 Championship.
