Prior to FPU - Gaston honed his soccer skills as a member of the Club Atletico Uniom de Santa Fe (1992-94) and Club Atletico Talleres (1995-98) soccer clubs in Argentina.
Personal - Gaston's parents are Anna Maria Conti and Miguel Angel Cignetti of Cordoba City, Argentina... has three older and two younger siblings... was born in Santa Fe, Argentina... nickname is Tato... is fluent in English and Spanish... is an international business major.
As a freshman (2001) - Gaston started 16 matches for the Sunbirds as a striker... scored six goals, including two match-winners, and added one assists for 13 points... perhaps his biggest play of the season came on October 1, 2002, when he scored the golden goal in overtime to give the Sunbirds a 1-0 win in Santa Clarita over The Master's College, then the top ranked team in the NAIA.
As a sophomore (2002) - Gaston started 17 matches... notched eight goals and five assists for 21 points on 47 shots... shared the team's Most Valuable Player honor with Orlando Ramirez.... was named to the All-GSAC and NAIA Region 2 teams... also earned NAIA All-America honorable mention status.
As a junior (2003) - Gaston started 22 matches for the Sunbirds on their run to a 22-2-0 record... scored seven goals, including the game-winners in both the Regional semifinal and championship.
As a senior (2004) - Gaston's senior season was limited to 10 contests because of injury... still managed to contribute seven goals and two assists for 16 points... was drafted by the Rochester Raging Rhinos. |
