Prior to FPU - Prior to FPU: Nick played four years of varsity soccer at Bullard High School... helped the Knights to league championships in 1996 and 1998.
Personal - Nick's parents are Rich and Wendy Hammond of Fresno... has an older brother... his mom has also attended FPU... favorite pro team is the Dallas Burn... plans to major in business... home church is Northwest Baptist Church in Fresno... chose FPU because of the low student-teacher ratio and the small school atmosphere.
As a freshman (1999) - Nick appeared in six matches, including the starting assignment in Riverside against GSAC-rival California Baptist... The Sunbirds won that contest (2-1) giving Nick his first collegiate win... appeared in a total of six matches, including four in GSAC.
As a sophomore (2000) - Nick split the Sunbirds goalkeeping duties with Francisco Alvarez... appeared in 12 games for the Sunbirds, five in GSAC.
As a junior (2001) - Nick took over the started each of the team's 18 matches, and played every minute (1,740) in goal... yielded 34 goals for a 1.76 goals against average... stopped two penalty kicks, including one in the Sunbirds' October 11 1-0 overtime win over The Master's College Mustangs who were ranked No. 1 in NAIA at the time.
As a senior (2002) - Nick started each of the team's 19 matches... played a total of 1760 minutes... credited with 100 saves... allowed 26 goals for a 1.33 goals against average... recorded a 2-0 shutout against Concordia and played 70 minutes in goal in FPU's 6-0 shutout of CSU Monterey Bay... ended the season with an 11-6-2 record... was the team's Most Inspirational Player... finished his career with 55 match appearances, including 46 starts... team's record with Nick in goal was 25-19-3.
