Fresno - The final preseason match for the Fresno Pacific University men's soccer team was no match at all.

The Sunbirds blanked the visiting Menlo College Oaks 12-0 at Steinert Field this evening.

Orlando Ramirez led the scoring parade with nine points on four goals and one assist. The senior All-America had a three goal hat-trick in the first half.

"I think we are starting to click," said Ramirez. "We know it will be different in GSAC (Golden State Athletic Conference), but we are ready."

Nick LomeliAdam Arteaga, Eddie Gutierrez, Paul Moran, Milton Blanco, Wesley Teixeira and Primitivo Jiminez (2 goals) also scored for the FPU.

Oscar Rodriguez and Josh Ollenberger split the goalkeeping duties. They faced only one shot, wide of the goal) and did not register a save.

The Sunbirds open GSAC play Tuesday in Azusa Pacific. It promises to be a great match as the 6-0-1 Cougars, ranked fifth in the NAIA, host the No.2 Sunbirds (8-0-0).

FPU returns to Steinert Field next Saturday, October 2, when they host Concordia. Kick-off time is 7:00 PM.
