Saturday, October 1, 2005 - GSAC Game #2

Final: Sunbirds 1, California Baptist 0

Box score

Riverside - When the Sunbirds need a goal, they call on sophomore striker Amaury Nunes.

Nunes notched his seventh goal of the season at 77:33, converting Adam Arteaga's corner kick. The Sunbirds defense made it stand up for a 1-0 Golden State Athletic Conference win over the California Baptist University Lancers this afternoon in Riverside.

"This is always a tough place to play, said FPU head coach Jaime Ramirez. "I like their team. They do a lot of good things. We decide not to pressure them in the first half and waited to counter. We changed that in the second half and I thought that helped us take the midfield away from them."

The win lifts FPU's record to 3-2-2 overall and 2-0-0 in GSAC play.

FPU will host Hope International University next Tuesday, October 4. Kick-off time under the lights at Steinert Filed is 7:00 p.m.
