Region 2 Playoffs - FPU seeded 5th, headed back to Irvine
If you are into second chances, then you'll think the NAIA Region 2 selection and seeding committee got it perfect.
If you are a Sunbirds men's soccer fan, maybe not.
The Sunbirds and Concordia University Eagles, the Golden State Athletic Conference co-champions, are seeded sixth and third, respectively, for the NAIA Region 2 Playoffs which begin Wednesday.
That means that the Sunbirds return to the scene of crime, Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Eagles, for Wednesday's quarterfinal.
"We get a second opportunity to get it right," chuckled FPU head coach Jaime Ramirez.
The eight-team field was announced late Sunday and was seeded by a complicated formula that includes the NAIA Longo Rating System.
"It is no secret that I am not a fan of the Longo System," continued Ramirez, "But that is what we use. We have a three-game season. We need three wins to gain a berth in the National Championship."
