Sunbirds sign five
Fresno - Five soccer student-athletes have signed letters of intent to attend Fresno Pacific University in August. The announcement was made today by FPU head coach Jaime Ramirez.
The list includes two local players and three foreign students.
Nehemias Blanco and Antonio Gonzalez, both midfielders, have local connections.
Blanco is a first cousin FPU's Milton Blanco who recently signed with USA Chivas. Nehemias Blanco will be a freshman. Like his older cousin, he is a product of the Roosevelt Revolution Soccer Club and a graduate of Roosevelt High School.
Gonzalez, a junior, has played one season each at Fresno City College and Cal-State Stanislaus. Gonzalez is a graduate of San Joaquin Memorial High School.
Andres Kristiansen (Denmark) and Fernando Vaca (Cordoba, Argentina), both freshman, will bring an international flavor to the FPU midfield.
Sophomore striker Amaury Nunes (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) transfers to FPU after one season at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
