Prior to FPU - Liz earned letters in both track and soccer at Clovis West High School... helped CWHS to Tri-River Athletic Conference titles in 2000 and 2001... was the CWHS team MVP as a senior in 2001... was also named the to The Fresno Bee All-Star team and TRAC offensive player of the year in 2001... played on the Northern California State Olympic Development team... also played for the Central California Heat Soccer Club.
Personal - Elizabeth, or Liz as she is most often called, was born in Fresno... her parents are Debbie and Michael Burns of Fresno... she has one older sister... admires Mia Hamm and Christine Lilly... is a San Jose Earthquakes and Cyberayes fan... home church is People's Church on Fresno... is a liberal studies major and plans a career as an elementary school teacher... is an FPU President's scholar.
As a freshman (2002) - Liz started 13 of the 16 games she appeared in... was second on the team in goals (9) and points (20)... scored a 3-goal hat trick in only 20 minutes of action in FPU's 15-0 win over Menlo.
As a sophomore (2003) - Liz started each of the team's 19 matches... notched four goals and three assists on 43 shots.
As a junior (2004) - Liz moved to the midfield in 2004... appeared in each of the team's 18 matches, including 17 starts... notched three goals, including two match-winners along with three assists for nine total points... was named to the All-GSAC team... was named to the NAIA All-America Scholar Athlete Team.
As a senior (2005) - Liz appeared in 14 of the Sunbird's 17 matches, starting in each match... sustained an injury that took her out of the three matches... notched 3 goals on the season in 12 shots (7 on goal), including 1 assist for a total of 7 points... awarded Sunbird of the Year.
