Final: FPU 2, Menlo 1
Atherton - Sarah Palmore scored the golden goal to lift the Sunbirds to a 2-1 comeback win over host Menlo this afternoon in Atherton.
Palmore redirected Priscilla Valle's low cross at the far post in the 106th minute.
Valle evened the score at 1-1 at 43:13, heading in a corner kick from Julie Ramirez.
Audra Carter was credited with 10 saves in the FPU goal to pick up the win.
"They are a much improved team," said FPU head coach Jaime Ramirez. "I thought we enjoyed the better of the play, but we couldn't seem to get a good foot on the ball when we had the opportunities.'
The Sunbirds, now 4-2-0 overall, host Vanguard Tuesday evening at Steinert Field. It is the Golden State Athletic Conference opener for both teams. Kick-off time is 7:00 p.m.
