Johnson City, Tennessee - Thrower Mario Ordaz finished sixth in his flight of the 35-pound weight throw with a mark of 47-07.25. The senior finished 20th in a field of 30.
Freshman distance specialist Benny Madrigal was seventh in his semifinal heat of the 5,000 meters and failed to advance to tomorrow's final. Madrigal's time was 15:31.32.
Ordaz had qualified 27th with a season best 50-02, but failed to reach that mark today. Madrigal had posted 15:13.21 earlier this season, but was well off that mark today.
Ordaz will compete in the shot put tomorrow.
