The 2004-05 track season will be JT Thiesen’s 4th year as an assistant under Eric Schwab. He specifies in the jumping and sprinting events for FPU and is in his first year as the university associate athletic director. JT graduated from FPU in 1996 and completed his teaching credential the following year at the university. He has spent the last 6 years as a math and computer teacher at Edison Computech Middle School in Fresno where he was also the cross country coach.
Along with his 3 seasons as track coach at FPU, JT coached varsity boys basketball at Immanuel High School with his father for 10 years. During this time the father/son duo amassed several valley championships and coached numerous state tournament qualifying teams. JT also spent seasons as an assistant track coach at Dinuba High School and Immanuel High School.
Thiesen lives in his hometown of Reedley with his wife Shannae (Castellanos-FPU 97’). JT still competes in track and field where he is a 25 foot long jumper competing for Athletes In Action. He is coached by close friend and 72’ Olympic Gold Medalist in the long jump, Randy Williams.
