Prior to FPU - Zenaida was the Reedley High School track team MVP in 2000, 2001 and 2002... also played goalkeeper for the West Yosemite League Pirates.
Personal - Zenaida' parents are Esbeyda and Fernando Cruz of Reedley... nickname is "Zee"... was born in Mexico... birthday is October 17... is a Kobe Bryant/Los Angeles Lakers fan... is one of six children and the first in her family to attend FPU... is fluent in both Spanish and English... plans to major in psychology.
As a freshman (2003) - Zenaida's best event was the hammer throw... finished seventh at the GSAC championship with a toss of 140-05... her 149-00 effort at the Oxy Invitational on May 10 established a new FPU freshman record and earned her a trip to the NAIA National Championship in Olathe, Kansas... finished 16th at the NAIA with a mark of 137-01.
As a sophomore (2004) - "Z" extended her personal bests in the weight (+ 7-01.75), shot ( +0.01.50) and discus (+5-04)... best improvment came in the hammer where she extended her personal record by 17' and 4" to 166-04... competed in both the NAIA indoor and outdoor national championships. |
