Personal - Kari's parents are Cheryl and Cregg Weinmann of Bakersfield... was born in Hillsbrow, Oregon... is a member of FPU's Baroque Ensemble... has an older brother... younger sister Lissa is also a member of the FPU track team... home church is the Heritage Bible Church in Bakersfield.
Prior to FPU - Kari had high school career best of 38' 10" in the shot and 121' 3" in the discus as a member of the East Bakersfield Blades.
As a freshman (2000) - Kari improved her PR in the shot to 39' 1/2"... Had season best marks of 43-02.75 in the weight, 119-10 in the discus and 137-05 in the hammer.
As a sophomore (2001) - Kari added nearly two feet to her weight mark (45-01) and 17 feet to her hammer mark (154-02).
As a junior (2002) - Kari earned NAIA All-America honors on March 3 with her sixth place finish in the weight throw at the NAIA National Indoor Track & Field Championship in Johnson City, Tennessee... broke the FPU record in both the weight (51-11) and the hammer (162-04)... finished seventh in the hammer (158-11) at the NAIA National Outdoor Championship in Olathe, Kansas, to earn NAIA All-America honorable mention status... earned a 3.70 grade point average and was one of five FPU women to earn NAIA All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
As a senior (2003) - Kari earned capped off her collegiate career with a fine senior season... broke her own FPU hammer record four times during the season... earned NAIA All-America honors with a 4th place finish in the hammer at the NAIA National Championship in Olathe, Kansas... also earned NAIA All-America Scholar Athlete honors with 3.66 grade point average... earned honorable mention NAIA All-America honors with an 8th place finish in the weight throw at the NAIA Indoor National Championship. |
