Fresno - Chrisie Gregory qualified for the NAIA National Indoor Championship and Kari Weinmann broke her own record in the hammer throw.
Oh yes, and by the way, the Sunbirds swamped the visiting Point Loma Nazarene University Crusaders in a dual meet at the Cockerham Track yesterday 113-50.
Gregory won the 1500 in a time of 5:03.61, but saved her best for the 3000 meters. She raced to a 10:26.90 win, well under the NAIA indoor qualifying mark of 10:33.50. That means Gregory has qualified to defend the NAIA national title she won last season (10:13.70 mark).
Weinmann extended her FPU record in the hammer from 162-04, set last year (May 4, 2002 in Santa Barbara), to 166-07. Weinmann, who qualified in the 20-pound weight throw early this season, also won the shot put (38-05.00), discus (119-04) and weight throw (51-10.25).
