Prior to FPU - Mesha was a two sport athlete at Sanger High School... lettered in basketball and volleyball... was an all-league performer all four years at SHS... was the West Yosemite League player
of the year as a senior in 2000... was named to The Fresno
Bee's All-Star team her both her junior and senior seasons.
Personal
- Mesha's parents are Nichele and Kevin Wimer of Sanger... nicknames
are Meha or Mesh... is a 49ers fan... has worked
with kids through the Sanger Recreation Department... home church
is Evangelical Free Church... also considered UC Santa Barbara,
UC Riverside and Gonzaga... also competes as a thrower for the
FPU track & field team.
As a freshman (2001) - Mesha had one of the finest freshman seasons in FPU history... she led the team with 492 kills and a lofty .443 attack percentage... averaged 3.70 kills and 1.57 blocks per game over 133 games... was named the Golden State Athletic Conference freshman
of the year... was also named to the NAIA Region 2 team...
earned second team NAIA All-America honors... was also named to
the NAIA National Championship Tournament team for her fine play
as the Sunbirds finished third... had a monster 19 kill, 20 block
match in the Sunbirds 3-2 National Tournament pool play victory
over St. Mary of Nebraska... was named FPU's
top freshman, an award she shared with Orlando Ramirez.
As a sophomore (2002) - Mesha appeared in each of the team's 43 matches and a total of 140 games... led the Sunbirds with a .391 attack efficiency... was second on the team with 3.64 kills and 1.17 blocks per game... earned All-GSAC, All-Region and NAIA All-America first team honors.
As a junior (2003) - Mesha started every match and appeared in each of the team's 145 games... averaged 3.64 kills while hitting .396... also contributed 1.21 blocks per game... named to the NAIA All-America second team as well as the NAIA National Championship Tournament team.
As a senior (2004) - Mesha completed her outstanding 4-year career by averaging 3.56 kills per game... became FPU's career total blocks lead and second on the career kills list... named to the All-GSAC and All-Region teams... named to the NAIA All-America third team. |
