Sunbirds sweep San Diego Christian, now 18-0
Box score
El Cajon - FPU head coach Dennis Janzen made a major lineup change, but it didn't alter the result as the Fresno Pacific University Sunbirds cruised to a 30-22, 30-19, 30-19 Golden State Athletic Conference sweep of host San Diego Christian in El Cajon tonight.
Janzen gave Allanah Munson a rare start and the freshman setter from Medford, Oregon, responded.
Munson dished out 43 assists in guiding the Sunbirds to their 18th win of the season.
"We wanted to give Allanah an opportunity with the first unit," said Janzen. "She got stronger as the match went on. She did a nice job."
Munson's favorite target was Thais Julio who lead FPU with 15 kills. Lorena Zuleta added 11 kills. Samantha Weatherly had a match-high 21 digs, while Julio had 16 digs.
The Sunbirds move to San Diego tomorrow to face the Sea Lions of Point Loma Nazarene University.
