Sunbirds land six on All-GSAC team
Weatherly claims second libero honor
The Sunbirds are well represented on the All-Golden State Athletic Conference that was announced today.
Six FPU players were selected by the panel of 11 GSAC coaches who are prohibited from voting for players on their own team.
Leading the way was senior Lorena Zuleta. The 6' 4" middle blocker from Cali, Colombia, who led the GSAC with .445 attack efficiency, became only the third Sunbird to earn the honor in each of her four seasons of competition. She joins Lin Gao (1999, 01-03) and Mesha Wimer (2001-04) on that short list.
Other Sunbirds named to the team were freshman opposite hitter Thais Julio, freshman setter Shu Liu, sophomore middle blocker Marin Shilling, senior outside hitter Lira Xavier and senior libero Samantha Weatherly.
Shilling and Xavier were repeat winners. Both were honor last season.
Weathely claimed the Libero of the Year for the second consecutive year.
