NAIA National Championship - Sunbirds top seed
As expected the Sunbirds, the Golden State Athletic Conference and Region II Champion, are the top seed for the 2005 NAIA National Championship which begins November 30in San Diego.
The Sunbirds will play two pool matches on the opening day. At 9:00 a.m. they will face ALbertson of Idaho (25-5), the Region 1 champion, then take on Lee of Tennessee (27-10), the Region XIII champion at 7:30 p.m.
On Thursday the Sunbirds will face Houston Baptist (36-4), the Region VI champion. On Friday FPU will tangle with 8th-seeded Georgetown of Kentucky (38-7), the Region XI champion. Both matches begin at 11:15 a.m.
The quarterfinals are set for 6:00 and 8:15 p.m. on Friday evening.. The semifinals are scheduled for Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.. The championship will start at 7:30.
Tree other GSAC schools also made the 20-team field. California Baptist the 2004 national champion, is seeded second. Azusa Pacific and host Point Loma Nazarene made the field, but are unseeded.
All matches will be played in Golden Gymnasium on the campus of Point Loma Nazarene University.
