FPU sweeps Albertson, Idaho 30-21, 30-18, 30-21

San Diego - The Sunbirds got their 2005 championship run underway with a 30-21, 30-18, 30-21 pool-play sweep of Albertson College of Idaho.

Freshman Thais Julio led FPU with 15 kills and 15 digs. She had plenty of support from Lira Xavier (8 kills, 2 aces, 2 blocks), Marin Shilling (9 kills) and Lorena Zuleta (7 kills, 2 blocks).

Setter Shu Liu directed the offense with 36 assists and also contributed five kills, seven digs, three service aces and was in on a couple of blocks.

FPU will be back on the court at 7:30 p.m. tonight when they face Lee of Tennessee.
