FPU rolls to 8-0 in Irvine
Irvine - The Fresno Pacific University Sunbirds made short work of two more opponents in the final day of play at the Concordia Invitational in Irvine.
FPU swept Redlands 30-21, 30-20, 30-22 on the strength of 13 kills and 10 digs from Brittany Pierce. Deanna Richards added eight kills and Samantha Weatherly had 11 digs.
FPU hen dismissed Lindsey Wilson of Kentucky, 30-14, 30-14, 30-12. Pierce again led FPU with 13 kills. Marin Shilling was next with 12 kills. Weatherly led the back row players with 10 digs, while Janelle Jackson served up four aces.
FPU begins Golden State Athletic Conference play next Tuesday in La Mirada against Biola.
The next home match is Saturday, September 10, when the Sunbirds host the Alumni. Match time is 3:00 p.m.
